How should I care for my Bead of Wisdom bracelet?
All of our bracelets are made by hand. This means that it should be treated with special care like any other fine piece of jewelry. Avoid direct exposure to hairspray and scented lotions. Be sure to take it off before going to bed and remove it before showering or bathing. Don't wear your bracelet in a swimming pool, sauna, or hot tub.
Since the silver components are sterling, the bracelet will eventually tarnish. You can brighten the silver back to its original luster using a silver polish cloth. You can also clean the gems on your bracelet using water and a soft cloth.
If you intend to wear your bracelet daily, we recommend you have the jump ring soldered by a jeweler. This will help keep your charm more securely attached to the bracelet. Some of our clients have chosen to add another charm to the bracelet - such as an initial charm -- to personalize their Bead of Wisdom bracelet before soldering the jump ring.
Are the bracelets durable?
The bracelets are strung on professional quality beading wire designed to endure approximately 20 pounds of test strength. Yes, they are durable, but they are also handmade. Avoid tugging or putting extra pressure on them.
Can I get a larger bracelet?
The size of each bracelet is approximately 7.5 inches for the adult bracelets and 6.5 and 6.25 inches on the bracelets made for children (First Holy Communion and Christening bracelets.) To special order a larger bracelet, please provide your sizing details on an email to us and we will respond with the additional fees and the timeframe (usually 3-4 weeks) for creating a larger bracelet. If you need a smaller bracelet, we recommend that you simply order a regularly-sized bracelet and have a local bead store restring it for you to your desired size. Of course, if that is not possible, please contact us. (Note: To determine if one of our bracelets will fit your wrist, measure your wrist and add an inch. Use flexible tape or string to measure or consider measuring a current bracelet that fits comfortably.
When will I get my order?
If your bracelet is in stock, it will be shipped within 72 hours of receipt of your order. If it is not in stock, you can expect it to be shipped within 3 weeks. Special orders will be shipped in 3-4 weeks.
Where can I have my bracelet restrung?
On the rare occasion that a bracelet stretches, you may want to get your bracelet restrung. Most any bead store will restring a bracelet for a nominal fee. Simply look up "Bead Stores" in your Yellow Pages, or ask a jewelry repair company if they provide this type of service.
Do you do custom designs?
We don't create custom designs, but we will alter our existing designs to accompany the needs of a client. We used the Health, Healing and Harmony bracelet, for example, as the basis for a nurse staffing company who wanted to give their nurses something special for Nurses Week. We added a logo charm and then created new text to fit with both the meaning behind the beads and their thank you message to the nurses. Another bracelet was altered to commemorate a large family reunion in Ireland. A third bracelet design with a custom bookmark and meaningful text is being considered for a Bible-based movie to be released in 2006.
So the answer is yes, we do create custom designs and bookmarks, but only if we can use a current design and as long as there are at least 25 bracelets purchased. Contact us at if you would like to learn more.
What is your return policy?
